I am delighted that you are interested in our Summer Sessions   offerings. Whether you are currently enrolled at GW, a student   attending another university, an adult considering returning to   school, or a high school student, our vast array of Summer   courses and special programs provides something for   everyone.

  GW Summer Sessions provides students with the ultimate   learning experience. Known for the quality of our intensive   summer programs, we offer small classes, a prestigious faculty,   and an in-depth approach to learning—all amidst the cultural   riches of Washington, DC.

Summer opportunities at GW include more than 500 courses in 70 different areas of study, undergraduate and graduate summer institutes , pre-college programs, summer study abroad, and online courses . I encourage you to peruse our listings to find the course or program that matches your educational needs. Summer is a perfect time to immerse yourself n a special topic or interest; fulfill requirements for a minor; study with our world-renowned faculty members; and to supplement internships with academic pursuits.

The George Washington University was founded in 1821 and has grown since then to become one of the most highly acclaimed institutions of higher learning in the United States. Today GW includes the Columbian School of Arts and Sciences, the Elliott School of International Affairs, the George Washington University Law School, the School of Medicine and Health Sciences, the School of Engineering and Applied Science, the Graduate School of Education and Human Development, the School of Business, the School of Public Health and Health Services, The College of Professional Studies, and the Center for Professional Development.

The main campus occupies a 19-block area just west of the White House and is within walking distance of historic Georgetown, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the State Department, and many other Government and cultural institutions. A short ride on the Metro subway system provides easy access to other centers of activity, such as the U.S. Capitol, the Library of Congress, and the museums of the Smithsonian Institution.
